Spurs have shown signs of encouragement since the start of the campaign, and they have proven tough to beat.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table, and they were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United in their most recent outing.
Tottenham are now three points away from the Champions League qualification places, which they were aiming for before the new campaign started.
And Allen feels that Spurs may need to add an injection of quality in January, to ensure that they finish in the top four.
“They need another striker who can score consistently for them if Harry isn’t there,” Clive Allen said.
“I also think they need one experienced player, someone who has been there and done it. This is still a young squad and they need that one player who can just guide them a little. That could make the difference for these sort of players.”
Pochettino has already gone on record to suggest that he would be interested in improving Spurs’ squad in January.
The Argentine boss is believed to be on the hunt for new additions, as he looks to improve Tottenham’s form.
The Lilywhites have only lost twice in the Premier League so far this term, but they have drawn too many games to keep pace with the likes of league leaders Chelsea.
