West Ham United were able to draw 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield in their latest match.
West Ham went into the match against Jurgen Klopp’s side having conceded nine goals in their last two games.
And there were fears that Slaven Bilic’s side were set to be on the wrong end of another heavy defeat, when Adam Lallana scored early on for Liverpool.
However, the Hammers showed their spirit and desire to claim a 2-2 draw against the high-flying Reds.
And Allen said: “It was much needed. It was a game everyone was expecting Liverpool to run away with, but they dug in. Full credit to them.
“You have got this period of a lot of games in a short space of time coming up, and that will be a good confidence booster for West Ham.”
West Ham actually took the lead at Anfield, when goals from Dimitri Payet and Michael Antonio turned the match completely around.
However, an error from Darren Randolph allowed Liverpool to grab an equaliser, and the score stayed level after that.
West Ham’s draw against Liverpool ensured that they climbed out of the relegation zone, and into 17th place.
The Hammers are next in action on Wednesday, when they take on Burnley.
