Manchester United youngster was gutted with FA Youth Cup result.
Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes has expressed his devastation at the club's FA Youth Cup exit.
Gomes, 16, is the most exciting young player in the Red Devils' academy, and has been prolific this season for the Red Devils' youth sides.
Last night though he was unable to help United to a win over a talented Southampton team at Old Trafford.
Tahith Chong scored United's opener, but two late Saints goals sent the home side out and Southampton into the fourth round.
Gomes commented on Twitter to thank fans for their support and convey his anguish at the defeat.
absolute heart-ache. so gutted I can't explain never deserved that .. thanks to everyone that supported.. !— santi gomes (@agomes_47) December 12, 2016
United have not won the FA Youth Cup since the 2011 side which featured Paul Pogba, and will have to wait another year for another crack at it.
Gomes is eligible to play in the competition for another two seasons, and so he will have time to make up for last night's disappointing defeat.
