Alan Shearer admits surprise as he delivers verdict on Tony Pulis and West Brom

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has been discussing West Bromwich Albion's season so far under Tony Pulis.

The Baggies are eighth in the league having won five, drawn five and lost five of their 15 games so far this season.

They were one of the top flight's in-form teams recently with the narrow defeat to Chelsea last time out ending a run of four games unbeaten which included an eye catching 4-0 thrashing of Burnley.

But more so than the results that briefly pushed West Brom into the top six last week, it is the way in which they are getting them which has people talking.

And one such person is Newcastle United legend and all-time Premier League top scorer Alan Shearer who told Coral he has been pleasantly surprised by the Hawthorns side this term.

"The Baggies are actually eighth in the table which is hard to believe," he told Coral.

"They are on a fantastic run of form, full of confidence and on fire in front of goal and that is something that we haven’t been able to associate with Tony Pulis and West Brom for a long time.

"We’ve all known Tony to keep it tight, they work on the defensive side of things but now they are scoring goals and the fans must love it."

West Brom will be looking to continue their unlikely push for the European places when they take on Swansea City tomorrow night.

It won't be easy, though, as they Swans have won their last two games and West Brom then take on Manchester United, Arsenal and Southampton consecutively in what looks a tricky run.
