According to a report from the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican international has been in great form since swapping Manchester United for a stint in the Bundesliga, scoring 33 goals in 60 appearances.

Seven of those have come this season, but it is now being claimed that Tottenham are keen on bringing the forward back to England.

That said Liverpool will allegedly make a move of their own, with Hernandez having a £33.5million release clause in his contract.

The report claims Tottenham would be hopeful of negotiating a lower deal but if Liverpool throw their hat into the ring it could be a case of the player simply going to the highest bidder.

In other news, Calcio Mercato claims Tottenham have made a £19.3million bid for Atalanta’s teenage midfielder Franck Kessie.

The 19-year-old is highly rated in the game and has a contract with the Italian side until the summer of 2021.

That said, Serie A giants Juventus are said to be closely monitoring the player and are reportedly unwilling to let him slip away, meaning that Tottenham could ultimately be disappointed in their pursuit.
