Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to BBC Sport after his side lost 1-0 to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

The only goal of the game came courtesy of Henrikh Mkhitaryan but things could have been very different if Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama had converted a superb chance of his own.

The summer signing made a great untracked run into the box during a set piece and had a free header, only to fluff his lines in comical fashion, heading the ball completely off target with only United goalkeeper David de Gea to beat.

“We had one very clear (chance) for Wanyama that maybe changed the way of the game,” the Spurs boss told the BBC. “But you know now is (about) looking forward and trying to prepare for Wednesday.

The Kenyan international is not known for his goal-scoring prowess but he still would have expected to get his effort on goal, and if he had scored it would have changed the whole complexion of the clash.

As it is Tottenham lost and United closed the gap to just three points with plenty of football still to be played; however you can rest assured Wanyama and his teammates will be hoping to put this disappointment behind them as soon as possible.
