Newcastle United got back to winning ways this weekend.

Newcastle United’s players have taken to social media after their 4-0 victory against Birmingham City on Saturday.

The Magpies were in desperate need of a victory after a poor run of form had seen them slip to second in the Championship table.

A hat-trick from summer signing Dwight Gayle and a goal from Yoan Gouffran gave Rafa Benitez’s side all three points and ensured they moved back ahead of Brighton & Hove Albion after the Seagulls’ victory against Leeds United the previous day.

Among the players celebrating after the final whistle were Isaac Hayden, DeAndre Yedlin, Christian Atsu and skipper Jamaal Lascelles.

Yedlin took the time to praise Newcastle teammate Gayle for his superb individual contribution while Hayden singled out the club’s supporters.

Next up for Newcastle is a trip to Wigan Athletic on Wednesday evening before a second straight away game, this time against Burton Albion, the following weekend.
