Visitors Tottenham had 60% of the possession, took 12 shots of which four were on target, and earned eight corners, according to BBC Sport.
United will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Crystal Palace away from home in the Premier League.
Tottenham will take on Hull City at White Hart Lane in the league on Wednesday evening.
