Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has stated on Skysports.com that Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil does not want to return to Real Madrid.
Ozil was on the books of Madrid from 2010 until 2013 when he moved to Arsenal.
The Germany international was a success at the Spanish giants, and he has established himself as a key figure at the Gunners.
In a recent interview with Marca, the 28-year-old hinted that he could be open to returning to Madrid.
Balague, though, believes that the former Schalke and Werder Bremen star is not keen on a move back to the Spanish capital.
The Sky Sports journalist has also claimed that the Spanish giants are not looking for a player like Ozil.
“No,” said Balague on Skysports.com when asked if Ozil is really keen on rejoining Madrid. “Mesut Ozil is not keen to re-join Real Madrid, partly because Real don’t want him either. They were happy to let him go for the price he went, and they are not looking for that type of player.”
Ozil is a genuinely world-class footballer and is one of the best in the Premier League, but Madrid do not have any need for him at the moment.
Moreover, Los Blancos are banned from signing players in the January transfer window and in the summer, as reported by The Sun.
The German attacking midfielder has scored five goals and created 36 chances in 14 Premier League appearances so far this season.
