The 32-year-old impressed for Aston Villa against Wigan on Saturday.
Mile Jedinak was outstanding as Aston Villa edged out Wigan Athletic at Villa Park on Saturday.
Jack Grealish will get the headlines after netting an 88th-minute winner, but the Australian midfielder was arguably the real star of the show yesterday.
Playing in central midfield, the 32-year-old, a Roberto Di Matteo signing, managed to win all four his attempted tackles which would be impressive enough.
But Jedinak also managed a superb 10 ball recoveries - only Grealish, with 11, recovered possession more times than the former Crystal Palace man.
The veteran midfielder also won seven of his duels and managed two effective clearances in what was a solid defensive showing from the bearded man.
|Position||Team||Total Tackle||Won Tackle||Ball Recovery||Interception||Duel Won||Effective Clearance||Appearances||Mins Played|
|Mile Jedinak||MF||Aston Villa||4||4||10||1||7||2||1||90|
It was the type of performance which Aston Villa fans have wanted to see from Jedinak since the moment he arrived in the West Midlands.
But, for whatever reason, he endured quite a slow start to life at Aston Villa but he looks a fine player since Steve Bruce took charge of the Villans.
It was a fine result for Bruce and co after losing 2-0 to Leeds United last weekend. They are now 12th in the Championship, three points behind Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth and final playoff spot.
