West Ham United need to act fast if they are to firm up a longstanding interest in Real Madrid sensation after he was spotted at a match in France.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
West Ham sit 17th in the Premier League, just one point and one place above the bottom three.
With Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini not having the same impact as they did last season, Bilic's side is in desperate need of some inspiration.
So the former Croatia boss must act fast if he is to firm up a longstanding interest in Real Madrid starlet Martin Odegaard.
Martin Odegaard in action for Real Madrid
According to The Daily Mail, Odegaard has been on West Ham's wishlist for some time but could face missing out on him after he was spotted at a Ligue One game over the weekend.
The 17-year-old Norwegian wonderkid has been restricted to just one senior appearance for Zinedine Zidane's side this season.
And he could be set to join Rennes according to Get Football News France.
Odegaard was spotted at Rennes' games against St Etienne with GFNF reporting he 'appears to be on the verge of joining the former on loan next month for the remainder of the season'.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane
Rennes Sporting Director Mikael Silvestre had a previous loan move for the talented attacking midfielder blocked by FIFA recently as he was deemed too young.
But Zidane himself is reportedly recommending Odegaard join Rennes on loan, believing a stint in Ligue 1 would aid his development.
Should Bilic be able to hijack the move Odegaard would join another Norweigan starlet at West Ham in the shape of Martin Samuelsen, another supremely talented midfielder the club has high hopes for.
