With a combined age of 398, we pick a Championship XI with the oldest players in the division.
Jussi Jaskelainen (41) has made over 500 appearances in his career. After a 15-year stint at Bolton Wanderers, the Finnish keeper currently plays for Wigan Athletic.
Brighton Hove Albion captain Bruno (36) has been ever-present for the Seagulls so far this season. The right-back has been a key presence since he joined from Valencia in July of 2012.
Paul Robinson (37) is the other fullback in this XI. The no-nonsense Birmingham defender’s only start of this season came in the 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forrest.
Blackburn Rovers defenders Wes Brown (37) and Gordon Greer (35) are this XI’s centre-back pairing. Brown spent most of his career in the Premier League with Manchester United and Sunderland before signing with Owen Coyle’s side in the summer. Greer also joined Rovers this summer after six years and over 200 appearances for Brighton.
Scott Parker (36) and Dean Whitehead (34) are the veteran centre-midfielders. Parker’s long Premier League career included spells with Charlton, West Ham, Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea. He is now captain of Fulham, who he signed for in 2013.
Whitehead is now into his second season with Huddersfield Town. The ex-Stoke man started him professional career with Oxford United in 1999.
Republic of Ireland international and Norwich play-maker Wes Hoolahan (34) also makes the XI. Hoolahan has won promotion with Norwich on three occasions.
Peter Odemwingie (35) and Aaron Wilbraham (37) lead the line. Odemwingie recently signed for Rotherham United and saw red 29 minutes into their defeat to Leeds United. Wilbraham has been with Bristol City since 2014 and has made over 100 appearances for the club.
