Everton are reportedly hoping to push through a January deal for Charlton Athletic hitman Ademola Lookman.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are hoping to get a deal tied up for Charlton’s Ademola Lookman – and whilst they want to have him in their first-team setup, the Addicks want to take him back on loan.
The Toffees have been in dire form of late and will need some January additions to aid Ronald Koeman’s plans, but whilst fans may want proven quality to arrive at Goodison Park, Everton may in fact be focusing on youth.
Charlton’s Ademola Lookman celebrates scoring
Speculation in recent weeks has surrounded a move for Charlton Athletic attacker Ademola Lookman, with The Mirror reporting last month that Everton had a £7m bid rejected for him, before the Daily Mail claimed last week that the Toffees were confident that a January deal to sign Lookman would be in place.
Now, the Liverpool Echo report that Everton are indeed trying to push through a deal for Lookman, though there could be a major stumbling block; where he spends the rest of this season.
Goodison Park
It’s stated that Everton want Lookman to join up with their first-team squad in January should a deal be agreed, but Charlton would demand to take Lookman back on loan for the rest of the season, much like MK Dons did with Dele Alli when they sold him to Tottenham in January 2015.
Whether such a stumbling block can be overcome remains to be seen, but Everton would be landing another one of English football’s top young attackers, having signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Sheffield United in August.

Lookman, 19, has become a key player for Charlton since making his debut in November 2015, hitting five goals in 24 games last season and six goals in 21 games so far this term.
A pacey attacker who can play out wide or up front, Lookman has represented England at youth levels, appearing for England Under-19’s and Under-20’s as his reputation continues to grow with Charlton – and he could be calling Goodison Park his new home from January.
