Southampton boss shares what makes him happy

Southampton manager Claude Puel

Claude Puel's philosophy and identity is beginning to show through in Southampton's displays.

Speaking to reporters following his side's EFL Cup quarter-final victory over Arsenal on Wednesday night, Claude Puel explained how he relishes the prospect of having a game every three days, as quoted by the club's official website.

The Saints are still going strong in three competitions, although they will need to win their last Europa League group game against Hapoel Be'er Sheva in six days time, if they are to progress further.

And Puel highlighted how he is looking ahead at his side's busy schedule with excitement, rather than trepidation, as quoted by southamptonfc.com:

“I have the habits with many seasons to train or to play every three days with all my clubs, except Nice. It was all the time possibilities, opportunities, to play every three days and for me it’s a good thing.
I prefer to play every three days and to prepare one week the next game. It is important a high level with the ability to continue playing this game with the same performance, the same quality and I like this and the players like this also."

The Saints have enjoyed a wonderfully productive week by beating Everton in the Premier League on Sunday, before following that up with a magnificent display at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Next up for Puel's men is a trip to London to take on Crystal Palace, who will be desperate for a win after their woeful run of form that has seen them fall to 17th position in the Premier League table.

And Southampton will have to be at their very best if they are to bring all three points back to St Mary's.
