Odds slashed; Leicester cut into 8/1 to sign former Champions League winner

England's Frank Lampard in action

Leicester City have struggled in the Premier League so far this season, and could be looking to strengthen in January.

Premier League champions Leicester have been cut into 8/1 by SkyBet to sign former Chelsea star Frank Lampard.

The 38-year-old midfielder is available on a free transfer after leaving MLS side New York City, following the expiration of his contract.

SkyBet have made Leicester new fourth favourites in the race to sign the former England international, with Crystal Palace out in front at Evens, West Ham United at 11/2 and Chelsea listed third at 7/1.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is obviously a big fan of the midfielder - the 38-year-old was the Italian's first signing when he was Chelsea boss in 2001.

Whether Lampard, at his age, could still do a job in the Premier League is debatable, but he would be worth signing just for the experience and know-how he would bring to the dressing room.

His goalscoring record form midfield is second to none, with 271 goals in 904 career appearances.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, there will surely be a handful of clubs who would love to have Lampard in their squad for the second half of the season.

Could Ranieri make a move for his former player and provide his side with a much needed boost?
