Well that's not a bad way of livening up the mood. Spurs fans have endured a difficult few weeks but this latest news has certainly cheered them up.
It was never really in doubt was it? After all, he is one of their own. Yet, that didn’t stop the tenuous links with Manchester United or Real Madrid. But maybe this will. Harry Kane has committed his future to Tottenham Hotspur by putting pen to paper on a shiny new deal running all the way up to 2022.
According to the Evening Standard, the deal could earn England’s most natural finisher post-millennium up to £100,000 per week, making him the highest earning player in the club’s history. And you’d struggle to argue against him deserving it.
It must not be forgotten that, just two years ago, there was only glimpses of the greatness we now take for granted on a weekly basis. Yet, a record of 47 goals in 72 Premier League appearances across the last two seasons, including the Golden Boot for 2015/16, represents a scoring rate few in European football can match. And that’s without mentioning his five in eight this term. And he’s not even been at his best yet.
Fortunately for Spurs fans, there’s a lot more to come.
Harry Kane signs new deal at Spurs until 2022. I knew he would, he's one of our own, lets move on and go again! #COYS— Carl Campbell (@carlcampbell808) December 1, 2016
Great news on Kane signing a new contract. Just shows players do want to stay at the club and believe in Poch and his future plans. #THFC— Ricky Barnard (@SpursRick) December 1, 2016
Have to say, again, I never saw Kane becoming the player he is. His finishing was always exceptional but never saw this, what a player #COYS— Roberto Kusabbi ⚡️ (@RKTweets) December 1, 2016
