According to The Sun, Sunderland are set to make a January move to sign Arsenal right back Carl Jenkinson to boost their defence.
The Black Cats sit bottom of the Premier League ahead of this weekend's game with Leicester City, and whilst David Moyes has picked up two wins in the last three games, he desperately needs reinforcements in January.

Right back has been a problem area for the club in recent years. Billy Jones has had his ups and downs since joining from West Bromwich Albion in 2014, Adam Matthews made just two appearances for the club following a 2015 move from Celtic before being farmed out to Bristol City, Emmanuel Eboue came and went without making an appearance earlier this year, former loanee DeAndre Yedlin ended up joining local rivals Newcastle United, and summer signing Javi Manquillo has yet to impress at the Stadium of Light.
Moyes should now be looking for a long-term right back in January, and The Sun claim that Sunderland will finally look to sign Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson when the transfer window opens.

It's stated that Sunderland have tried to sign Jenkinson previously, but with the 24-year-old looking for first-team football, they will be hoping that this is their chance to land Jenkinson.
The former Charlton Athletic man had played just once this season before November, but Hector Bellerin's recent injury has given him a chance to play in the first team, but with Mathieu Debuchy also at the club, Arsene Wenger has options at right back.

If Arsenal do decide to sell Jenkinson, it's believed that Sunderland will make a move to sign him, though they may not be alone in pursuing the full back.
The Daily Star reported last month that West Ham United were looking to re-sign Jenkinson having taken him on loan for 18 months – and it will be interesting to see if Sunderland and West Ham end up in something of a bidding war for Jenkinson in January.
