Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane has praised teammates Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira for their performances against Liverpool on TV Yorkshire.
Midfielders Phillips, who is 20 years of age, and Vieira, who is only 18, featured against Liverpool in the EFL Cup quarter-final tie away from home on Tuesday evening.
While Phillips came on as a substitute for O’Kane in the 28th minute of the encounter, Vieira started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes.
O’Kane has praised the duo for their performances against Liverpool in a tie which Leeds lost 2-0.
“The last time I did this before a game (spoke at a press conference) I spoke of their willingness to learn, and I think Tuesday night showed you that, the difference I would say even from when I arrived here to now in them as players, the maturity of them has grown hugely,” the 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international midfielder told TV Yorkshire about Phillips and Vieira.
“Like I said before, they have big futures ahead of them if they make the right decisions," added O'Kane.
Phillips and Vieira are young and talented midfielders, and they indeed have bright futures ahead of them.
What the Leeds duo need to understand now is that they must be patient, and should relish the chance of playing first-team football for a club as big as the Whites.
Garry Monk’s side are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are genuine playoff contenders.
The Whites are fifth in the league table at the moment with 29 points from 18 matches.
