Leeds United lost against Liverpool in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday evening.
The West Yorkshire outfit took on Premier League side Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.
The Championship club lost the tie 2-0, thanks to goals from Divock Origi and Ben Woodburn in the second half.
Leeds, though, should be proud of their achievement, as they could progress as far as the quarter-finals of the prestigious competition.
Roofe, who is 23 years of age and can operate as a winger or as a striker, has revealed what was spoken of in the dressing room prior to the game.
“One of the comments we made in the dressing room before the game was that we want to go to places like Anfield every week,” the attacker told The Yorkshire Evening Post.
“Next time we want to play them in the Premier League. That’s the stage we want to be playing at.”
Roofe’s comments highlight the sheer determination and passion the current Leeds squad has, something that all the fans will cheer and love.
Garry Monk’s side are going strong in the Championship and are in the running for a playoff spot.
Leeds played well against Liverpool, and now they will be looking to bounce back with victory over Aston Villa at Elland Road in the league on Saturday evening.
