BD: Some good news at last for Totttenham as Harry Kane signs a contract to 2022

Tottenham have hit a tough run of form of late with the side falling away in the league and being eliminated from the Champions League.

Tottenham have seen their early season optimism hit by a tough run of form with their campaigns both domestically and abroad taking body blows. They were forced to take a 2-1 loss to league leaders Chelsea after they were beaten by the same scoreline in their must win Champions League game against Monaco.

The two loses saw them crash out of Europe with a game still to play, while they are now seven points shy of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League having been beaten for the first time in the league. It is clear that they are in huge need of some good news then, and that has come in the form of Harry Kane signing a new contract with the London side:

Kane's signing of a new contract is hugely important news for Spurs and not just because of their troubles over the last few weeks. Kane made his long awaited return to action in his team's 1-1 draw with Arsenal and he went on a fine scoring run, netting twice in their win over West Ham and hitting one goal in games against the Gunners and Monaco.

Before his return, Tottenham had struggled to score goals and ended up drawing most of their games. This has seen them sink down the table and lose pace on those above them.

Perhaps it is not Tottenham's season this year, however, the re-capturing of Kane is hugely important for their future development. He is one of their best players and their biggest goal threat. Without him, Spurs struggle hugely.

The profligacy of Vincent Janssen shows just how important a player he is with strikers coming into the Premier League often needing at the very least one season to get up to speed with the league itself.

Therefore, Kane is Tottenham's most important player.
