Arsenal legend suggests there has been an overreaction to Tottenham's poor run of form

Arsenal legend has words of support for Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has explained how he believes there has been an overreaction to Spurs' poor run of form, when writing his 'Tackle Keown' column for the Daily Mail.

Mauricio Pochettino's men have had to endure heavy criticism over the past month or so, after crashing out of the Champions League with one group game still remaining, and taking just seven points from their last six Premier League outings.

And Keown, who made 334 league appearances for the Gunners, had surprisingly supportive words for his former bitter rivals, citing an overreaction to their worrying run both domestically and on the continent, when writing his column for the Daily Mail:

"People are overreacting with Tottenham. They weren't a million miles away at Stamford Bridge. After playing at the Emirates a few weeks ago it was another difficult away game — and don't forget that by playing at Wembley, they are playing on the road every time they play in the Champions League! You get results like this after playing in Europe and have respect for teams who have played Champions League football for a number of years and had to manage their energy levels."

Spurs currently sit in fifth position in the Premier League table, but the worrying aspect of their season for Tottenham fans will be their lack of goals, which has caused them to draw a handful of games that they should really be winning.

With Harry Kane back fit and firing again, however, there is no reason why the Lilywhites cannot embark on a sustained winning run and, in turn, once again mount a genuine challenge for the top-four and even the league title.

Next up for Tottenham is a home game against Swansea City on Saturday.
