Three players Wolverhampton Wanderers could sign in January, as Paul Lambert looks to add Championship experience

Blackburn manager Paul Lambert

Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the look out for players who have Championship experience.

With Paul Lambert suggesting he wants to bring in players with Championship experience to Wolverhampton Wanderers (Birmingham Mail), we take a look at three players he could target.

Ross McCormack (Aston Villa)

The Daily Mirror have suggested that Villa are already thinking about selling Ross McCormack, after his indifferent start to life at Villa Park.

McCormack has scored only twice since moving from Fulham last summer, and he could be available for transfer in January.

If Wolves have funds to invest, then signing McCormack would be a good move - as the Scotland international is a proven goalscorer at Championship level.

Jordan Rhodes (Middlesbrough)

Rhodes is another striker has previously been prolific in the Championship, but he has struggled for goals this season.

The Middlesbrough forward has barely featured for Aitor Karanka’s side, and there are suggestions that he could be moved on in January.

If Wolves could strike up a deal for Rhodes it would highlight their ambition, and increase their goalscoring threat for the second half of the season.

Joey Barton

Joey Barton applauds fans as he is substituted

Barton is searching for a new club following his release from Rangers, and he would certainly add experience to Lambert’s side.

Barton led Burnley to promotion last season, and although his time at Rangers did not work out as planned, he still has a lot to offer at Championship level.
