Southampton set up a last four tie with Liverpool following a somewhat surprising win away at Arsenal.
Southampton booked their place in the last four of the EFL Cup with a surprise 2-0 victory at Arsenal on Wednesday night, but while Jordy Clasie and Ryan Bertrand were the men who bagged the goals, it was one of their teammates that took many of the plaudits.
Before the game, Maya Yoshida had made just nine appearances in all competitions, including just two in the Premier League.

However, the Japanese defender was brought in in one of eight changes that Claude Puel made following the win over Everton at the weekend.
And he did not let the team done as he settled in perfectly alongside Virgil van Dijk to help the Saints keep a clean sheet at the Emirates.

Amongst his most notable contributions were a late block that denied the Gunners the chance to give themselves a lifeline and a crucial pass in the build-up to the first goal.
Showing the composure of a playmaker, Yoshida switched the play with a brilliant ball out to the left-wing that ultimately allowed Clasie to smash home the opener.

And the Saints fans who took to Twitter were quick to praise the 28-year-old's display, with some of the plaudits being based on the fact that he has had to wait for his opportunities with van Dijk and Jose Fonte doing so well at the heart of the club's defence.
Proper display of counter-attacking football that. Won't see many passes this season better than Maya Yoshida's for the first goal #saintsfc— John (@JohnOfBasing) 30 November 2016
we're playing the youth again. We're rotating and players like yoshida have been fantastic. Semis of the EFL cup. Potentially #saintsfc— Max griffin (@maxlee_griffin) 30 November 2016
Sounded like Yoshida was excellent for #SaintsFC tonight. Unlucky not to be starting more often, tough to get in over Fonte and Van Dijk.— Gabriel Sutton (@_FootbalLab) 30 November 2016
Yoshida has stepped up and performed solidly every time he's been called upon. Probably my MOTM. Get in #saintsfc!— Voice of St Marys (@voiceofsms) 30 November 2016
One more push to Wembley!
Yoshida my MOM tonight - the guy's been superb recently. #saintsfc— Ryan Holdaway (@rpHoldaway) 30 November 2016
If Yoshida didn't get man of the match then it's rigged! #SaintsFC— Tom Bennett (@TomBennett10) 30 November 2016
