Should Wolves consider a January move for Premier League outcast?

Middlesbrough's Jordan Rhodes celebrates with team mates after scoring their third goal

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in desperate need of more fire-power in forward areas, and this potentially available Middlesbrough striker could be the answer.

Wolves currently find themselves in a whole world of trouble, as they languish just outside of the relegation zone, separated from 22nd placed Wigan Athletic by a superior goal difference alone.

Paul Lambert was given the reigns at the Molineux earlier this month, but the managerial change has not had the desired effect of a boost in both performances and results.

Something drastic has to be done at Wolves if they are to avoid relegation, let alone force their way inside the top half of the Championship table.

A fantastic option for Paul Lambert would be Middlesbrough's forgotten man Jordan Rhodes.

The 13-capped Scotland international has fallen well down the Boro pecking order, and has made just 14 league starts for Aitor Karanka's men since he made his £9 million move to the Riverside from Blackburn Rovers in February.

The 26-year-old has only made one Premier League start for the Teesside outfit so far this season, and appears to be surplus to requirements at Boro.

Wolves should take advantage of this situation and make a move for the prolific striker, who boasts an impressive record of 172 career league goals in 338 appearances.

He would provide Lambert with a genuine goalscoring option. He is experienced at Championship level, and would arguably guarantee Wolves 10-15 goals during the second half of their campaign.

Those goals could be the difference between relegation and survival come May, and the Wolves hierarchy should make the signing of Rhodes their priority in January.
