According to the Daily Mail, Everton are confident that a deal to make Charlton Athletic striker Ademola Lookman their first January signing is close.
The Toffees are in a poor run of form right now with just one win from the last eight Premier League games, and whilst fans will want first-team reinforcements in January, it seems that Everton have one eye on the future.

After landing Sheffield United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in August, reports are now suggesting that the Toffees are eyeing up another teenage attacker from a League One club.
The Daily Mail report that Everton are close to striking a deal for Charlton Athletic striker Ademola Lookman, and are confident that they've beaten Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City to his signature.

Lookman, 19, has starred for Charlton since making his first-team debut in November 2015, hitting five goals in 24 games last season, and six goals in 20 appearances so far this term.
A pacey attacker who can play out wide or up front, Lookman looks set to have a bright future ahead of him, and he's even represented England at Under-19 and Under-20 levels.

His potential has attracted great interest from Premier League giants, but it's claimed that Everton are now confident that they will win the race to sign the teenager and make him their first signing for the January transfer window.
It's unclear just how much Everton would be paying for Lookman, but The Mirror recently claimed that Ronald Koeman's side had failed with a £7m offer for the youngster, with Charlton looking for closer to £10m for their prized asset.
