Paul Lambert wants to add Championship experience to Wolverhampton Wanderers' squad

Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently in 21st place in the Championship table.

Paul Lambert has told the Birmingham Mail that he wants to bring players with Championship experience to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window.

Wolves are expected to back Lambert with funds in the new year, as they look to strengthen their squad.

The Midlands side were active in the summer transfer window, but many of the additions which previous boss Walter Zenga made have not had the desired impact at Molineux.

As thing stand Wolves are in 21st place in the Championship table, after a poor start to the campaign.

And Lambert is keen to add more Championship knowhow to his team, to ensure that they win promotion.

“I think we need a bit of help,” Lambert said.

"I have spoken to the owners and to Kevin who has been great about it.

“The important thing is we sing off the same hymn sheet and we all recognise what we are trying to do.

“Ideally we have to get one or two who know the league and I think that is important.

“When you are in any league you have to realise what you are involved in.”

Lambert has now been in charge at Wolves for two matches, but he is still waiting for his first victory.

The Scottish boss opened with a draw against Preston North End, before Wolves were beaten 2-0 by Sheffield Wednesday in their latest outing.

Wolves are next in action on Thursday evening, when they take on Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.
