Southampton have been without summer signing Jeremy Pied since August.
Southampton summer signing Jeremy Pied has provided an update on his recovery from injury, during an interview with French media outlet L'Echo de L'Argoat.
The 27-year-old Frenchman moved to St Mary's in August on a free transfer, but has gone on to make just one appearance for the Saints, after sustaining a knee injury that subsequently required surgery.
But Pied was in good spirits, when speaking to L'Echo de l'argoat, explaining that the hard work of the recovery process is now over, whilst sharing his excitement at the thought of returning to action with Claude Puel's men:
"I’m doing the physio work with a smile. The first three months have gone by, the hardest bit is done. I feel better and better, I don’t have anymore pains. I just cannot wait to get back on the pitch.”
The right-back's impending return to action will be a huge boost for Puel, what with his side's participation in so many different competitions stretching his squad to the maximum.
When Pied does return to full fitness though, he will have to surpass the impressive Cedric Soares, if he hopes to nail down the right-back spot as his own.
A lot can be said for competition for places though, and who is to say that Soares' presence in the squad will not help Pied become an even better player?
