Danny Mills thinks there's no reason why Leeds can't target automatic promotion this season.
Pundit Danny Mills has told BBC Sport that he thinks there is no reason why Leeds United can't challenge for an automatic promotion spot this season.
Leeds were in EFL Cup action on Tuesday night, as they travelled to take on Liverpool at Anfield in a quarter-final clash which evoked memories of Leeds' time in the Premier League.
The Whites entered the game in great form, as Saturday's 2-1 win over Rotherham United meant they had lost just once in six league games heading into their trip to Merseyside.

Leeds had their chances against Jurgen Klopp's high-flying Reds, as Hadi Sacko fired straight at Simon Mignolet when played through on goal before Kemar Roofe hit the post with a strike from the edge of the box.
Liverpool made Leeds pay for missing those opportunities, as Divock Origi converted Trent Alexander-Arnold's outstanding cross, before Ben Woodburn sealed the win with the second goal, becoming Liverpool's youngest ever goalscorer.

It's now back to league action for Leeds as they take on Aston Villa this coming weekend, with Monk hoping that his fifth-placed side can continue their push for promotion back to the Premier League.
After their performance against Liverpool, former Leeds defender Danny Mills told BBC Sport that Monk wasn't outdone or embarrassed at Anfield, and must now focus on making sure Liverpool v Leeds is a Premier League fixture next season.

Mills added that, with some new signings in January, Leeds can certainly be in the mix for a play-off place, and even hinted that Leeds could mount a push for automatic promotion, but with the Whites sitting nine points off second place, they may need a slip-up from Brighton or Newcastle.
"They've got to concentrate on getting back to the Premier League, and make sure that next season, this is a Premier League game," said Mills. "I think they're heading in the right direction. Garry Monk, who made changes tonight, was not outdone or embarrassed. Maybe with a little bit of strengthening in the transfer window, Leeds have a definite push for the play-offs and, who knows, if one of the top two slip up, then there's no reason why they can't get into the automatics," he added.
