The Benfica star is exactly the type of player Tottenham Hotspur need.
Much has been made of Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer business, with Victor Wanyama widely regarded as the only instant success story while the likes of Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko search for their best form and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou awaits his chance.
While many of Spurs’ recent additions flounder, the pressure has also been on players such as Christian Eriksen, who has failed to replicate his best form this season.
With Tottenham struggling for goals, it would be no surprise if they attempted to rectify that in January, and there is one in-form player who may have slipped under the radar but who could be an instant hit at White Hart Lane.
Pizzi has played 97 matches for Portuguese club Benfica but this season he has reached another level, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists so far.
In fact, of Benfica’s 11 league games to date Pizzi has failed to either score or assist on only four occasions, and he is exactly the type of player who could do what Eriksen has failed to for much of this season.
Perhaps most importantly, Pizzi is exceptionally versatile, and while he appears to have now found his best positon as a number eight, he can also operate on either wing or as a secondary striker if required.
What the Portuguese player offers is creativity and goals and if Tottenham bid big, Benfica may have a decision to make even though they are flying high domestically right now.
It shows there are players out there who can offer what Tottenham need and no doubt for less than the £30million they inexplicably paid for Sissoko.
