The report from the Mirror claims that Akpom is making good progress in his recovery from the back injury that he sustained earlier in the season, and the Gunners are willing to allow him to leave on a temporary basis upon the opening of the winter transfer window, in a bid to help him gain more regular first-team football than he would achieve at the Emirates.

The Mirror also claim that Brentford and Cardiff City are interested in securing the services of the England under-21 international.

And if they are to challenge for promotion this season, they will most definitely have to sign a Championship-proven striker who is capable of scoring 10 plus goals in the second half of the season.

Could Akpom be the man to help the West Londoners return to the promised land?
