Everton fans react on Twitter as Oumar Niasse nets for under-23 side

Everton's new signing Oumar Niasse is presented to the fans before the game

Oumar Niasse scored the opener for Everton's under-23 side last night.

Everton striker Oumar Niasse is expected to be sold this January after a dismal year at the club.

He has been omitted from the first team and made clear he is surplus to requirements, but continues to work hard and perform at under-23 level.

Last night he was on the scoresheet for the under-23s as they took on Southampton, bustling into the box and firing home an instinctive shot.

The goal was enough to earn Everton's table topping under-23 side a 1-1 draw, and underlined that just may be, Niasse could have something to offer the first team an option.

Everton have been overly reliant on Romelu Lukaku scoring goals, with Enner Valencia yet to make a telling contribution.

The goal could help put Niasse in the shop window for interested teams in January as he shows he may be able to make an impact at his next club thanks to the fact he is at least getting regular game time.

It may be too little too late for Niasse at this point, but Everton supporters do not see it that way, with some calling on him to be given a first team chance, even as soon as this weekend.
