Tottenham Hotspur currently sit four points adrift of the Champions League spots.

Spurs star Eric Dier explained how his side should be proud of their efforts during their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, but highlighted the need for his team to keep up the intensity they showed in the first half for the entire 90 minutes, as quoted by the club's official website.

Tottenham are currently in the midst of a mini-crisis, after being dumped out of the Champions League with one group game still remaining, along with their meagre return of just seven points from their last six Premier League outings.

But Dier was in defiant mood, when speaking to tottenhamhotspur.com, and explained what his side need to do in order to get back to winning ways:

"We showed fantastic character to start the way we did after what has happened in recent weeks in the Champions League. It’s a matter of us playing like that for 90 minutes, turning draws into wins and seeing out results, that’s massive for us. We work hard, we’re committed, we have a lot of character and we showed that against West Ham last weekend. We just need to be more consistent."

The return of Harry Kane has undoubtedly been a major boost for Mauricio Pochettino, but it must be a worry for Spurs fans how reliant their side have become on the England international.

Next up for Tottenham in the league is a home game against Swansea City before they travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, and Pochettino will be desperate for his side to make a statement by picking up six points from those fixtures.
