Could Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino take charge of Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future?

Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has suggested to Sky Sports that he does not see Mauricio Pochettino taking charge of Barcelona anytime soon.

Balague, though, believes that Pochettino could become the Real Madrid head coach.

When asked if Barcelona need someone like Pochettino or Borussia Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel, Balague told Sky Sports: “Tuchel doesn't fit Barcelona I don't think but Pochettino does.

“He has close links to Espanyol and I think if he did coach someone in Spain, it would be Real Madrid.”

Pochettino was in charge of Spanish club Espanyol from January 2009 until November 2012.

The Argentine boss did quite well during his time at Espanyol, and is now one of the best football managers in Europe.

Given that Espanyol and Barcelona are fierce rivals, it is hard to see the former Paris Saint-Germain central defender taking charge of the Blaugrana.

Luis Enrique is doing quite well at Camp Nou and is himself a very good manager. Madrid are going strong in La Liga and in the Champions League, and head coach Zinedine Zidane is doing extremely well at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Tottenham’s recent form has been disappointing. The North London outfit have fallen behind in the Premier League title race and were also recently knocked out of the Champions League.

Madrid are currently at the top of La Liga, with Barcelona six points behind them in second place.
