Aston Villa boss suggests this period will be hugely important for the club

Aston Villa Manager Steve Bruce

Aston Villa face six games in what will be a busy December for the club.

During an interview with the club's official website, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce highlighted December as a vital month for his side, as they look to push on and establish themselves amongst the promotion play-off spots.

Bruce had an immediate impact when he was appointed manager of Villa last month, and has led his side on an unbeaten run that stretches seven games, that has seen them rise to 11th in the Championship table - just four points adrift of the play-off places.

And Bruce made reference to the importance of the lead up to the festive period, when speaking to avfc.co.uk, calling December a huge month for the club in regards to their promotion aspirations:

“We have had a steady increase in the level of performance and a steady increase in points. We are now coming into December – it’s a huge, huge month. It’s a big, big month with six games to play. It’s a critical period for us. We go into it buoyed with a little bit of confidence and looking forward to the big challenge of it. For me, this is the defining month. It will define the season."

The Villans face an even split of both home and away fixtures during their six-game stretch next month, and with the average league position of their opponents being 12.33, they have a fantastic opportunity to push their way up the table.

The Championship is one of the most competitive leagues in the world though, and Bruce will have to ensure that his side are fully focused on the task ahead, if they are to emerge from December in a better position than they are currently in.
