Sunderland are already in a relegation battle after a poor start to the season.
Year after year recently, Sunderland have found themselves deep in a relegation battle, but have found a way to get out of it and retain their Premier League status.
This season appears to be no different, with a poor start under manager David Moyes seeing them fail to win any of their opening 10 games. The Black Cats have since beaten Bournemouth and Hull to give the team some hope, but Saturday's defeat at Anfield saw Sunderland return to the bottom of the league.
The question remains, can Sunderland survive again?

With Jermain Defoe in their side, Sunderland are guaranteed goals which means they always have a chance, but it is up to the rest of the team to do their jobs rather than just rely on their main striker.
Defoe's guarantee of goals gives Moyes something that managers around him can only dream of, and if the former Manchester United boss can tighten up at the back, then Sunderland could potentially steer themselves away from danger once more.
