Could Mauricio Pochettino leave Tottenham Hotspur if he does not get to sign the players he wants?

Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson has suggested in The Daily Star that Mauricio Pochettino could leave Tottenham Hotspur.

Merson has suggested that if Pochettino does not get to sign the players that he wants, then he will leave Tottenham.

“Pochettino says they need more quality but look what he bought in the window. Moussa Sissoko was a panic buy and he’s not been very good,” the former Arsenal attacker wrote in The Daily Star. “Neither has Vincent Janssen.

“I think Pochettino can see they are a way off and knows he needs a few more players. He was laying down a marker.

“If he doesn’t get them I think he’ll be gone. He’s an ambitious manager. Bigger clubs wanted him in the summer and he’ll not be short of offers if he walks.”

Pochettino is a very good manager and done a truly remarkable at Tottenham so far. The Argentine boss guided Spurs to a top-four finish in the Premier League last season.

It is true that Tottenham are underperforming at the moment and that they need an able back-up to Harry Kane in attack, but fans should remain optimistic.

Getting knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday evening was a bitter disappointment, but Spurs do have the quality of players to finish in the top four of the Premier League yet again this campaign.

Spurs will return to action on Saturday evening when they take on Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Tottenham will find it hard to win the London derby, but they can pick up a point from the encounter against Chelsea.
