Newcastle go into their match with Blackburn Rovers on the brink of making it 10 wins from 10 in the Championship. Their form has been astounding and they are threatening to run away with the league title with all those around them dropping points. The architect of their success is manager Rafael Benitez, who spoke to the Chronicle about what he tells his players before each game.

Last weekend the Magpies ran out 2-0 winners over Leeds in the battle of the in form sides. Robert Green's mistake was capitalised on by Dwight Gayle, before the striker poked home to double their lead and take the game away from their Yorkshire opponents.

A win over Blackburn this weekend would mean Newcastle seal their 10th win in 10 games, something that seemed impossible this time last season. Since the introduction of Benitez though, the Magpies seem like a Premier League quality team again. The manager explained to the Chronicle about what he has been telling his players before each game: "Before any game I send the same message. Concentrate on the game and getting three points - but this game even more. If we win we can get a record so let’s concentrate".

"To get three points is the priority and then the other things will come. We are doing a lot of good things and you have to give a lot of credit to our players. It’s a nice problem for me".

It is clear that the focus is to continue with all of the positive momentum that they have been building in recent weeks. While he is the epitome of calm, it seems Benitez is also very aware of the chance to make history with a 10th win.

Blackburn are currently languishing in 22nd in the league with 16 points as they are staring relegation full in the face. They will be desperate to gain three points from the game, however, if Newcastle can maintain their recent form, then it is difficult to see anything other than a resounding Magpies win.
