Liverpool currently sit second in the Premier League, and Henderson may think team spirit has something to do with it.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has hailed the togetherness of the current side, and told the club's official magazine that team spirit was something that was worked on during the summer.

The Reds saw several changes on the playing front. Marko Grujic, Joel Matip, Loris Karius, Sadio Mane, Ragnar Klavan and Georginio Wijnaldum all linked up with the side in the summer - along with experienced goalkeeper Alex Manninger.

Henderson told the official Liverpool FC magazine: "You are with each other every day when you are away on pre-season and one of the things we worked on was the team spirit.

"This is a great group, we all get on very well. I think having that togetherness away from the pitch is a big part of being a team.

"If you have that, it definitely means that you are better prepared to go on the pitch and fight for each other. And I expect that spirit, that bond, to get even better the more time we all spend working together."

It certainly seems to be reflecting well on the field at the moment - their togetherness is there for all to see and having a good team spirit certainly can't harm their performances.

Good performances and results are only going to enhance that togetherness, and it will help the Reds over the course of the season if they can sustain their good start.

It's also reflected in the contributions from players. While people are keen to pick out certain players as the stars of the team, everyone seems to be doing their bit. Plenty of players are chipping in with goals, it's a side that attacks and defends as a unit, and manager Jürgen Klopp seems to have brought a group of players very close to each other.

Good team spirit can only be a positive on the field.
