Speaking to reporters ahead of his side's game against Southampton on Sunday, Everton boss Ronald Koeman explained how the inside knowledge he has on his former club will give his current side a huge advantage, as they prepare to travel to St Mary's this weekend, as quoted by the club's official website.

During his time on Merseyside, the Dutchman has continued the fine work he oversaw whilst in charge of the Saints, with his side currently siting in seventh position in the Premier League table - four places and five points ahead of Claude Puel's men.

And Koeman spoke to the media ahead of Sunday's game, highlighting his knowledge of both Southampton's strengths and weaknesses as a big advantage for the Toffees, as quote by evertonfc.com:

“I worked two seasons with them. They have brought in new players this summer but it is not difficult to analyse Southampton because I know the players, their strengths and weaknesses. I hope it all helps because that will make it positive to try and get a result."

Both sides head into the game on the back of inconsistent runs in the Premier League, with the Saints and the Blues managing to pick up just five points from their last five league outings.

Puel and Koeman will both be desperate to guide their teams to victory, and in turn, spark life back into their faltering league campaigns.
