Speaking to Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp has dismissed doubts about Arsenal this season saying they are definitely title challengers in his eyes.

The Gunners have been impressive so far this year and are currently 18 games unbeaten in all competitions.

They have disappointed in recent weeks, though, putting in lacklustre performances against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Those performances have seen Arsene Wenger’s side come in for serious criticism with some doubting whether they are capable of challenging this season.

Redknapp disputes those doubts and says the Gunners are definitely in the race for the title in this unpredictable year.

“It's very difficult to call, but Arsenal are definitely one of them,” he told Sky Sports.

“They look stronger. They have real game-changers in Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, and Olivier Giroud is looking like a good option off the bench. The defence looks better than it's ever looked, too.”

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can compete for the title for the rest of the season.

They certainly have the quality in their squad to mount a challenge but will have to start performing better in the big games than they have done so far.

This year’s league is likely to be one of the most competitive to date and they cannot afford to keep dropping points as they have for much longer.
