West Ham United are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table.

Andy Townsend has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on 25th November, that he believes West Ham United should stick by Slaven Bilic.

According to the Telegraph, West Ham’s board are starting to consider whether Bilic is the right man to take them forward.

The Hammers are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, and they are sitting just one point above the relegation zone.

Townsend feels that it is the players who need to step up, rather than Bilic though, as they owe it to their manager.

“I really like Slaven,” Townsend said. “I think he’s a very humble man and manager. He doesn’t dress it up, if his team has been poor he says it. None of the mind games. I like his style.

“It is the players who have to get themselves out of trouble, and do their manager a favour.”

West Ham finished in seventh place last season, but they have been unable to repeat their performances this time around.

Bilic’s men have looked off the pace, and they have a tough run of fixtures coming up.

West Ham take on Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool in their next three matches, meaning things could get worse before they get better.

West Ham go into their match at Old Trafford at the weekend, on the back of a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in their latest outing.
