David Prutton has predicted for Sky Sports that Newcastle United's imperious form will continue with a win against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The Magpies have won their last 10 matches in all competitions and look for all the world to be the heavy favourites to secure immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

That run has put them five points clear at the top of the Championship heading into this weekend's fixtures after their 2-0 win at Leeds United last weekend.

Former Leeds midfielder Prutton was hugely impressed with Rafa Benitez's game management and the Magpies' intensity in the win at Elland Road, and predicted them to make it 11 in a row on Saturday.

Prutton wrote for Sky Sports: "On paper, this looks a home banker, people will be expecting. What's impressed me so much about Newcastle, especially in the win against Leeds last week, is their management of the game, the intensity.

"I can't see their winning run ending against Blackburn, who have at least got a few wins on the board after that dismal start to the season.

"The league position does reflect their inconsistency, and it couples with their away form, with just one win all season. They had a big slice of luck to win at home against Brentford last week, and I can only see a Newcastle win."

As Prutton says, Blackburn have improved slightly in recent weeks, but they are still mired in the relegation zone, and anything other than a convincing Newcastle win would be something of a surprise in Saturday's clash.
