The Honduran gave away the penalty from which Barcelona scored their second goal at Celtic Park.

Celtic's Emilio Izaguirre

At one stage he looked to be on his way out of Glasgow, but Kieran Tierney's injury handed a Celtic lifeline to Emilio Izaguirre.

The Honduran's performance in Wednesday's 2-0 Champions League defeat to Barcelona, however, has left many Bhoys fans wishing he hadn't bothered sticking around.

In fairness to Izaguirre, it is unlikely he'll face tougher opposition again in his career, with arguably the world's most fearsome front three - Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez - his challengers at Celtic Park.

It was the latter who most exposed the left-back's flaws, though, using £75-million-worth of nous - perhaps some skulduggery too - to draw a clumsy challenge inside the penalty box.

Messi, who had already scored Barca's opener midway through the first half, duly dispatched the resulting spot kick, to consign Brendan Rodgers' to fourth place in Group C, with one game still to play.

With Tierney not expected back before the New Year, Celtic fans will perhaps have to get used to Izaguirre in the team. It's a prospect that few are looking forward to, however...
