West Brom have not been a team synonymous with goal scoring exploits in recent years, something that has been a bone of contention amongst the fans with Tony Pulis' methods not inhibiting particularly exciting play. However, on Monday the Hawthorns was treated to some awesome attacking football as their side hammered Burnley 4-0. It was a result that has hugely excited the supporters, however, Tony Pulis has a warning for the fans, as reported by the Express and Star.

Their huge win on Monday saw West Brom into the top half of the table as they took ninth place, with 16 points from 12 games. Considering their torrid run of games that pitted them against Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester, they have done well to fight for the position they are in.

Tony Pulis will have been incredibly proud of the resolve his side showed in that run of games, while their expressive style on Monday has the fans brimming with optimism. However, Pulis has been quick to warn the fans that the Baggies are not quite there yet in terms of attacking. He told the Express and Star: "This is very important, we need time to get things right. This is nowhere near what I want. This is part of it, but I’m not stood here thinking I’ve cracked it.

"We keep building and progressing. The great thing about it is that by winning games you get more time. Obviously it’s enjoyable after taking some stick. But you’ve got to have a strong character both ways."

It has not been West Brom's way in recent years to blow teams away with their goals. Instead, they look to maintain a solid shape and hit their opponents on the counter. This has drawn criticism from some sections of the support as they cite the football is not particularly enjoyable to watch.

However, Monday's game came as a huge reward to the fans that have kept faith with Pulis and his team as they saw their side really open up and play some very good football.

Pulis is still growing as a manager and his team is improving with him. They will not be able to play this sort of football every week, but it has shown the fans that the manager is not just focussing on defensive solidity. Instead, he is shaping a side that can be strong at the back, but also expansive and exciting when they need to be.
