Russian side Rostov produced a huge shock this evening as they beat German giants Bayern Munich 3-2 – and Liverpool target Sardar Azmoun stole the headlines.
In a group containing Bayern, Atletico Madrid and PSV Eindhoven, Rostov went into tonight’s game knowing that they couldn’t make the knockout stages of the Champions League, having picked up just one point from four games.
Bundesliga champions Bayern were expected to sweep them aside tonight, and Douglas Costa’s opener looked to have put Carlo Ancelotti’s side on their way to victory.
However, Rostov produced a rousing display as Sardar Azmoun cut inside Jerome Boateng to slot past Manuel Neuer for an equaliser, before Dmitry Poloz’s penalty put Rostov in front.
Juan Bernat looked to have rescued Bayern with a goal to make it 2-2, but Rostov came back again, with Christian Noboa hitting the winner to stun Bayern and put Rostov in a position to qualify for the Europa League.

Ivan Daniliants’ side impressed, but striker Azmoun has grabbed the headlines once again, as he scored a sublime goal just as speculation surrounds his future with the Russian side.
Azmoun, 21, has starred for Rostov since arriving from Rubin Kazan in February 2015, and The Guardian recently reported that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wanted to lure Azmoun to Anfield in January to boost his attacking options.
After Azmoun’s superb strike against Bayern, Liverpool fans took to Twitter to react to the Iranian international’s performance, with many calling on the Reds to snap him up in January.

Some suggested that Azmoun looks like the ideal signing for Klopp, and want to see Liverpool sign the striker before it’s too late.
Others think that Azmoun’s price will have shot up following his goal, but with a feeling that Azmoun would be perfect for Liverpool’s style of play, fans want to see him snapped up in 2017.
