Tottenham Hotspur have been dumped out of the Champions League after being outplayed in Monaco last night.

Spurs lost 2-1 in the fixture but that scoreline was flattering after what was a dominant display from the Ligue 1 side.

Plenty of the Spurs players are currently not performing, including arguably their brightest talent Dele Alli.

He put in a poor showing in the game and former England and Manchester United man Phil Neville believes that he is simply not fit.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live he stated:

“Dele Alli looked about 60% fit, at best.

“I watched him in the warm-up and he had big strapping on his knee up to his thigh. I thought 'he can't be fit to play with that'.

“His movement was slow and pedestrian. He had no mobility.

“He is one of the brightest midfielders in this country, but he's just not fit.”

There is no doubt that Alli’s performance left much to be desired but there is also no doubt about his overall talent.

The midfielder has recently been out of action and, as Neville stated, it appears he has not yet recovered fully.

He’s not alone, with striker Harry Kane looking in similar shape.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that the pair can start to show their best form again soon as they look to embark on a Europa League campaign and a fight for the Premier League top spot. They will need both to be in form if they are to succeed.
