The striker has long been linked with Leeds United, but with good reason.

The report claims Garry Monk will have funds to bring in another front-man to add some support to Chris Wood – with just Marcus Antonsson a genuine replacement up front.

As much as Leeds fans will find it bland, repetitive and predictable – they must consider bringing Kyle Lafferty to the club from Norwich City.

It is one of the most trodden of transfer rumours for Leeds but with good reason.

The Northern Irishman can’t get regular football at Carrow Road, is great mates with winger Stuart Dallas and has admitted a soft spot for the club in the past.

The fact is that Lafferty is a player who could be very useful to Leeds.

He can play up front by himself or with a partner and his recent goalscoring record is exemplary – when he gets a chance to play. Ask Leeds, he scored against them recently.

It is a no-brainer if Leeds could put some sort of deal together to bring Lafferty, the hero of Northern Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, to Elland Road – especially if they can get him in at a good price.

Sometimes the best answer is the most obvious, in Leeds’ case that might prove true with Lafferty.
