Speaking on Sky Sports Now at 11:43 am on November 23rd, ex-Aston Villa midfielder, and current Brighton & Hove Albion star Steve Sidwell shared why he believes his former club will go on to finish inside the top-six this season.

Steve Bruce's men are in the midst of an unbeaten run that stretches six games, and now sit just five points adrift of the play-off places.

And Sidwell, who made 67 appearances for the Villans during a two-and-a-half year spell with the club, described his admiration at how Villa have gone about their business in recent weeks, highlighting their performance against his side Brighton last week as evidence of their talents, when speaking to Sky Sports:

"The formation that they brought to the Amex on Friday, they played a 4-5-1 formation, which made it very difficult for us to break down. I can really see Villa having a good run of games now, especially up until Christmas, with the games that they have got, and laying a marker down for the league. I expect them to be in the top-six."

In their next six games leading up to Boxing Day, the average league position of Villa's opponents is 15th, so they really do have a fantastic opportunity now to kick on and push their way up the Championship table.

If Bruce's men continue to play with the commitment that they have showcased over the past month, then the sky is the limit for Villa, and their fans have every right to be excited about how far they can go this season.
