Newcastle United striker Daryl Murphy has told the Chronicle that he has been very frustrated since moving to St. James’ Park.
Murphy was signed by Newcastle from Ipswich Town last summer, to increase Rafael Benitez’s options up-front.
However, the target man forward has only made one appearance for Newcastle so far, after injury struck.
And the 33-year-old said: “It’s been very frustrating because when I signed here I was fully fit and ready.
“I played one game and then picked up an injury literally the next day.
“It has been very frustrating for me sitting in the stands and watching the lads do well.
“You want to be involved and help the team.
“But I’m on the comeback now so hopefully I can stay injury free.”
Murphy is edging closer to full fitness, after appearing for Newcastle’s under-23 side earlier this week.
Murphy scored as Newcastle picked up a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion, to highlight his goalscoring prowess.
The experienced striker has a tough ask to break back into Newcastle’s team, when he does return to fitness.
Newcastle have Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic to pick from up-front, and the pair are both in good form.
