According to a recent report from Turkish news outlet Aksam, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Galatasaray winger Bruma, but is he what they need?
There is no doubt Tottenham could do with additional wide players, but Bruma is very much an unpolished gem and Spurs already have one of those in the form of Georges-Kevin N’Koudou.
Bruma is only 22 and has been tipped for superstardom for a few years now. However his return of eight goals and 15 assists in 60 appearances for Galatasaray is nothing to write home about.
That equates to a goal every 7.5 matches and an assist every four; not exactly form to set the pulse racing.
In contrast, N’Koudou arrived at White Hart Lane for £9million (BBC) after averaging one goal every four games for Marseille, and look at how he has struggled to get minutes in his first few months at the club.
Both wingers possess innate talent and trickery yet Tottenham do not need two such unpredictable options.
Instead manager Mauricio Pochettino should be looking at someone more akin to the finished article to occupy the left flank.
Wingers are frustrating beasts at the best of times, and when you consider there are far more experienced players out there with more consistency and better returns, Tottenham would be wise to look elsewhere.
